Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS DEDB FAST RECOVERY Version 2 * * Release 2 (FMID=H1J2220) users who use IMS * * V11. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: IMS V11 run under support. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** DFR V2R2 supports IMS V11. The main items for this support are as follows: - Run under support of IMS V11 for the existing functions of DFR V2R2 - Database quiesce enhancement - Fast Path Enhancements . Fast Path usability and serviceability enhancement - DBRC enhancements . Unconditional deletion of information from the RECON D/S Limitations: - DFR cannot be used in an IMS environment in which a change was made to the resources of MODBLKS by an IMPORT command. - DFR does not support Fast Path 64-bit buffer, which is supported by IMS V11. If DFR is running in an IMS environment that Fast Path 64-bit buffer manager is enabled, DFR issues MSGDFR3403E and ends with return code 16.

Comments
A set of modules and macros that have module/macro name suffix 'B' was added in order to support IMS V11. * The following module and macro have been modified. DFRMAIN0 - V11 was added as an IMS version that DFR supports. DFRCOPYR - The "change date" of the copyright for modules was changed. * The following sample JCLs have been replaced. DFRLINK - The additional modules by this PTF were added. * ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== IMS DEDB Fast Recovery for z/OS Version 2 Release 2 User's Guide and Reference (Document Number: SC27-0928-03) should be changed as follows. ================================================================ 1.0 Planning for DFR 1.3 Knowing what you need to run DFR 1.3.3 Limitations The new description is added as follows: | DFR does not support Fast Path 64-bit buffer, which is | supported by IMS Version 11 Release 1. | If DFR is running in an IMS environment that Fast Path | 64-bit buffer manager is enabled, DFR issues MSGDFR3403E and | ends with return code 16. * ================================================================ The product usage in IMS V11 environment is same as the one in IMS V10 environment. IMS DEDB Fast Recovery for z/OS Version 2 Release 2 User's Guide and Reference (Document Number: SC27-0928-03) is changed to describe that description for the usage in IMS V10 environment can be used for IMS V11. Also, the description of the MINVERS parameter and messages are changed as follows: | 5.0 Input and output for DFR under IMS V10 and IMS V11 5.1 Understanding the required input 5.1.1 JCL requirements : | MINVERS=8.1|9.1|10.1 ( for IMS V10 ) | MINVERS=9.1|10.1|11.1 ( for IMS V11 ) Specifies the same value as the minimum version of IMS that can sign on to DBRC (also referred to as MINVERS) that is in the DBRC RECON data sets of IMS system that is | to be recovered. If MINVERS=10.1 or 11.1 is specified, the following time is in microsecond precision: - The "UOR TIME(OFFSET)" in Backout Required PSB list - The "1ST BLK TIME" in OLDS Sort list - The "UORTIME" of DBRC commands to create backout records This parameter is valid only when DBRC=N. If DBRC=Y is specified, or if the DBRC= parameter is omitted, this parameter will be ignored. | The default is MINVERS=8.1 for IMS V10. | The default is MINVERS=9.1 for IMS V11. | (It is the same as the default value of supported DBRC.) * Appendix B. Messages and Codes B.3 Messages The following messages are changed for DFR under IMS V11 only: DFR3114E DYNAMIC ALLOCATION ERROR WADS DDNAME=.. DSN=.. DFR3114E DYNAMIC ALLOCATION ERROR OLDS DDNAME=.. DSN=.. DFR3114E DYNAMIC ALLOCATION ERROR SLDS DSNAME=.. (DFR3114E) ERROR REASON CODE=nnnn DFR3114E DYNALLOC REQUEST BLOCK LOAD FAIL. MEMBER NAME=.. Explanation: .... | If DFR is running in IMS Version 11, and the SLDS is | indicated, the information of SLDSs required for recovery | may have been compressed by a CLEANUP.RECON command. | Since DFR gets incorrect data set names from DBRC when | DFR needs SLDSs contained in the compressed SLDS | information, DFR could not dynamically allocate the | SLDSs. System action: ... System programmer response: .... | If DFR is running in IMS Version 11, and the information | of SLDSs required for recovery has been compressed by | a CLEANUP.RECON command, add a DD statement for SLDSs and | rerun the job with DBRC=N. *
