Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool "Validate WSL" function does not
identify that the database used in a CREATE TABLESPACE does
not exist resulting in a SQLCODEN204 / -204 ERROR:  <dbname> IS
AN UNDEFINED NAME

*                 Ver 7.2 runing Validation.                   *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A  new tablespace  and its objects will *
*                      be created.   The database  into  which *
*                      the  tablespace is to be created,  does *
*                      not exist. Analyze with validation does *
*                      not recognize this. As a result the RUN *
*                      crashes,   because  it can't create the *
*                      tablespace in a non-existent database.  *

* RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *
****************************************************************
Validation does not check for a database existance when
performing checks on a table space.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Added check for a database existence during table space
validation. The fix is in v7.2.
