Error description

  • ABENDS0C4 IPI4PR91 near x'A86' when a large number (> 256) of
Fast Path database sync failures (x'5938' log records) occur
    for a transaction.
IMS PA uses internal 'records' for transferring transit
information to report processors. These are limited to 32K.
When more sync failures occur than can fit in a record an
attempt to store past the end of the record is made, causing
    the abend.
Additional Symptom: Any odd or intermittent ABEND0C4 or ABEND0C1
( ABEND0Cx ) and a high volume of syncpoint ROLB failures should
install this maintenance as this could affect various storage
areas. One abend0c4 occurred in IGG019DJ.

Problem conclusion

  • Modify IMS PA to perform bounds checking and flush records to
report processors after 256 sync failures.
