Error description
When trying to edit and update the httpd.conf file with "ServerTokens" variable, the changes do not take effect. Recreate Scenario: Recreate the issue as follows on WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment 6.1.0.17 with remote IBM HTTP Server webserver 6.1.0.13 (managed). 1> Edited the httpd.conf locally on the remote IBM HTTP Server webserver and - add the following directive somewhere in between the file (not necessarily at the end) i.e ServerTokens Prod - add a virtualhost entry - save the httpd.conf file on the remote IBM HTTP Server webserver. 2> Save httpd.conf and restart the IBM HTTP Server server 3> Using the adminstrative console, edit httpd.conf file for the IBM HTTP Server webserver definition -add virtualhost entry 4> using ISC propogate this change to the remote webserver. 5>Restart the webserver on the remote machine. 6> Open the httpd.conf locally on the webserver machine and you will see that the manual entry for Servertokens disappears (not the Virtualhost entry though) made in step 1.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere Application Server * * V6.1 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Web Server directive "ServerToken" * * is removed from Web server * * configuration file after Virtual * * Host create. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A Change was made to the IBM HTTP Server Configuration file, to add directive "ServerToken". This change was removed after the customer used the administratiove console to create a Virtual Host in this same Web server configuration file. The Web server Virtual Host Wizard removed the directive "ServerToken" due to an incorrect entry for default in an internal table used for syntax verification.
Problem conclusion
The syntax verification table was updated with the correct default value "FULL" for the IBM HTTP Server directive "ServerToken". The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.1.0.23.
