APAR status
Closed as new function.
Error description
This APAR will enhance the Fast Path Advanced Tool (FPA) ANALYZE function in two areas as follows: 1. Not having different SORTWORK DDNAMEs for areas when running ANALYZE. 2. A new keyword so ANALYZE will complete even if there are more than 100 errors. This is a forward fit of HPFPU V3R1 FPA APAR PK57322.

When running ANALYZE function, there is a naming rule depending on area number for the DDNAMEs for SORTWORKs. This is creating a problem when having a general procedure that is used for ANALYZE. Putting hundreds of SORTWORK DD cards in the procedure is not a good idea. 2. When running ANALYZE, it is not finished if more than 100 errors are detected. A new keyword requested so ANALYZE will finish even if more than 100 errors are detected.
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
Comments
1. ANALYZE function has been modified to accept the DDNAMEs for SORTWORKs depending on the ATASKCTL. 2. ANALYZE function has been modified not to finish even if more than 100 errors are detected. ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== The IMS High Performance Fast Path Utilities for z/OS User's Guide Volume 1:Fast Path Advanced Tool Version 3 Release 2 (SC18-9869-03) should be changed as follows: Chapter 2.Fast Path Advanced Tool Job control language(JCL) DD statements Input/Output itttWKnn DD An optional DD statement for PTRCHKLVL=FULL that is used with the RELOAD, CHANGE, and ANALYZE commands. These are intermediate storage data sets that are used by DFSORT. For more information about coding the SORTWKnn DD statements, see DFSORT Application Programming Guide. Allocating twice the space used by the SORTIN data set is usually adequate for each work data set. The naming rules of the ddnames are as follows: i: The thousands digit of the area number of the area | to be analyzed or the thousands digit of ATASKCTL. A, D, G and J: | If the number of area to be analyzed or the number | of ATASKCTL is 999 or less. B, E, H and K: | If the number of area to be analyzed or the number | of ATASKCTL is from 1000 to 1999. C, F, I and L: | If the number of area to be analyzed or the number | of ATASKCTL is from 2000 to 2048. ttt: The hundreds digit of the area number of the area | to be analyzed or the nunndreds digit of ATASKCTL. nn: The number of the SORT work data sets. This value must be from 01 to 06. Notes on dynamic allocation: If this statement is not specified in the JCL statement when these data sets are necessary, FPA allocates them dynamically. Appendix A.Command reference The following description should be added. MAXERROR Use this keyword to specify the maximum number of pointer errors that might be encountered before ANALYZE process terminates. MAXERROR is an optional keyword for the following commands: ANALYZE CHANGE RELOAD Related keywords: none Format: ----------------------------------------------------------- | MAXERROR=parameter | ----------------------------------------------------------- parameter Specify a value from 0 to 999. If 0 is specified, there is no maximum number of errors. Default: MAXERROR=100 This keyword can be specified for the site default. Appendix H.
