    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: QMF Table Editor causes trailing binary *
    * zeroes (nulls) to be converted to *
    *                      blanks (x'40') in CHARACTER fields.     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    If any value in a row being updated by the Table Editor
    contained trailing binary zeroes, those zeroes were not
    considered when the length of the text field was calculated.
    Thus, the value x'C1C20000', originally of length 4, was
    considered to be of length 2 when it was written back to the
    table. Since the field displayed on the Table Editor
    SEARCH screen is initialized to (- ) or x'60404040', and only
    2 bytes of 'C1C20000' were written to that field, the resultant
    value in the text field was 'C1C24040', and that value was
    written back to the table. This field does not have to be the
    field that is being updated by the user in the Table Editor.

Problem conclusion

  • A new parameter was added to Table Editor code to allow for
    processing of trailing binary zeroes (nulls).
