Error description

  • Virtual member manager (VMM) database repository contains an
attribute that is not part of the schema, the get(*) [get all
properties of a user] results in an Exception which is caused
    by a NullPointerException.

Description: We have a setup where a 6.0 WebSphere Portal is
migrated to 6.1. The 6.0 Portal has websphere member
manager database repository => The 6.1 Portal has virtual
member manager database repository. In 6.0, 'ou' is a valid
attribute for a user. thus, the ou attribute is migrated,
including the values, to the 6.1 virtual member manager
database. However, the virtual member manager attribute schema
says that 'ou' is only valid for OrganizationalUnit, not for
    users.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
In Websphere Member Manager (WMM), attributes 'o' and 'ou' are
defined for entity Person, but these attributes are not defined
for entity PersonAccount in virtual member manager (VMM).
If you use these attributes for Person in WMM, after WMM to
VMM migration, there will be a NullPointerException thrown
when getting PersonAccount with these attributes.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem has been fixed, no NullPointerException will be
    thrown.
If you still wants to use these attributes for PersonAccount
after migration, please add these attributes for
PersonAccount according to WebSphere Portal documentation.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 6.1.0.21. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
