Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server version * * 6.1 users of Java Server Faces (JSF). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: BeanInfoManager instances in the * * JSF's BeanInfoManager static hashmap * * are not removed when an application * * is stopped which leads to * * Classloaders not being garbage * * collected. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** JSF's BeanInfoManager keeps a hashmap of the classes it has instances of. This hashmap is not cleaned up when applications are stopped which causes it to hold onto references of classes from applications that have stopped and possibly even restarted. This prevents the Classloaders which loaded those classes from being garbage collected.
Problem conclusion
Method was added to BeanInfoManager that removes all the entries for a given classloader. The JSF code was also updated to call that method when applications are stopped. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fixpack 6.1.0.21.
