Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Object Comparison Tool who use  *
  *                 DFSMS compression  on version files and are  *
  *                 getting a 213-C8 abend.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: GEN  and  the  DDL   reader opens  the  *
  *                      version  file  for update  which isn't  *
  *                      allowed on DFSMS compressed data sets.  *
  *                      Admin/OC jobs will receive  an S213-C8  *
  *                      abend  if the version  file data  sets  *
  *                      are defined with DFSMS compression.     *

  *                      When the V71 version  files used in V72 *
  *                      compare,  results in DFSORT failure due *
  *                      to incorrect  version count and results *
  *                      in  following  error ADBC010E - Sort of *
  *                      BASEIN records failed GOCC002E - Severe *
  *                      error. Compare terminates.              *

  *                      When Old version files (created before  *
  *                      count) are  used in compare results in  *
  *                      RC=00CA issue,  with oncode 340,  size  *
  *                      condition.                              *

  Version files are  compressed  internally and  should  not be
  created with DFSMS compression because GEN and the DDL reader
  opens them for update which isn't allowed on DFSMS compressed
  data sets.  Admin/OC jobs  will receive S213-C8 abends if the
  version file data sets are defined with DFSMS compression.
  
  V71 version files used in V72 compare results in DFSORT failure,
  due to  differences  in mapping of record count field in V71 and
  V72 version header record.
  
  For all older version files (before count),compare sets the
  record count to zero.
  

Problem conclusion

• The  following limitation has been added for version files in
  Admin/OC:  Version files are compressed internally and should
  not be created with DFSMS compression because GEN and the DDL
  reader opens them for update which isn't allowed on the DFSMS
  compressed  data sets.   Admin/OC jobs will  receive  S213-C8
  abends  if the  version file data sets are defined with DFSMS
  compression.
  
  The problem has been fixed in V7.2.
