Error description

  • KO2E3066S RC=1001 PERSISTS AFTER PK52874=PK53416/UK35165

    * Subpool 241, Key 7  Total Alloc:  BAA2000        SP241
    Of this there are 1753 allocations of X'1B000' bytes with many
    of them related to storage that looks like the following:
                  | ...........  *** |

                   CODE=1001
    KO2E3064I DT05 OBJECT ANALYSIS TERMINATION SUCCESSFUL
    The above messages can be seen issued many time. The storage
    shows up under *SYSTEM* in the IPCS VSMDATA report, both below
    and above the line (CSA/ECSA):
     0000 *SYSTEM* ........ Ac C 00BECD28 0001A2D8 0D953596

    Also possible is running out of CSA as seen in this SVC DUMP:
     Dump Title: COMPON=VSM,COMPID=SC1CH,ISSUER=IGVVSERR,OUT_OF_CSA
    for an ABEND878 rc08.
    Keyword:

Local fix

  • You can turn off Object Analysis using the following command:
    /F cccccccc,F EVENTMGR,STOP DB2=(db2ssid1,db2ssid2,...db2ssidn)
    or
    /F cccccccc,P EVENTMGR where ccccc is your server started task.
    (volume analysis)

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If Object Analysis fails to initialize, *
    * it can repetitively allocate ECSA until *
    * ECSA is exhausted, causing S878 abends *
    * and eventually a system outage. The *
    * problem has only been detected *
    *                      occasionally when a DB2 system recycles *
    * while Object Analysis is operating for *
    *                      that DB2 system.                        *
    *                                                              *

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this PTF *

    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
    Object Analysis was not always freeing the ECSA it obtained, if
    it failed to initialize.

    PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
    Always free ECSA when Object Analysis fails to initialize.
