APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If the WLR user does not provide the DFSMSCE0 MSC User exit (IMS
    V8, V9 and V10) - or any of the DFSMCTR0, DFSNPRT0 or DFSCMPR0
exits (IMS V8 and IMS V9 only) - IMS WLR will appear to
initialize correctly during IMS start-up, but the WLR code will
never be executed as IMS will not recognize that WLR is active
without one of these exits. Attempts to turn the product TRACE
ON will result in the WLR Control blocks being set correctly,
though no trace records will ever be produced.

    ****************************************************************
Provide default DFSMSCE0 program so that IMS V8, V9 and V10
recognize WLR's presence. If the WLR user does not provide
the DFSMSCE0 MSC User exit (IMS V8, V9 and V10) - or any of
    the DFSMCTR0, DFSNPRT0 or DFSCMPR0 exits (IMS V8 and IMS V9
only) - IMS WLR will appear to initialize correctly during
IMS start-up, but the WLR code will never be executed as IMS
will not recognize that WLR is active without one of these
exits. Attempts to turn the product TRACE ON will result in
the WLR Control blocks being set correctly, though no trace
    records will ever be produced.

Problem conclusion

  • New module IWXMSCE0 has been created to ensure that IMS
recognizes WLR's presence in this situation.
After applying this APAR/PTF, IMS needs to be stopped and
    restarted (WARM start is sufficient)
