APAR status

Error description

• During a concurrent image copy, Pointer Checker finds pointer
  errors and issues FABP1961E and FABP1963E.  The error is caused
  because of Media Manager calls in HPIC which refer to high used
  RBA in the catalog, but it is not maintained until the DB is
  closed.  CIC should work for a DB which is used by IMS online
  and is open.  The Media Manager call cannot work correctly if FF
  database data set is extended in an online program.  This
  problem could cause data loss.
  

Local fix

• Use HPIO=N for CIC process.

  *                        during IMS online.                    *

  *                      simultaneously performed in this        *
  *                      situation, HPIC terminates with RC=04   *
  *                      and HPPC detects the pointer error.     *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *

  HPIC V4R1 Concurrent Image Copy function does not read the
  records in extended space of input database data set that has
  been extended during IMS online processing and it terminates
  normally, when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
  - HPIO=Y is used.
  - Organization of input database is defined by VSAM ESDS of
    HDAM, HIDAM, PHDAM or PHIDAM.
  - Input database data set is used by IMS online and opened.
  - Input database data set is extended during IMS online.
  
  If HASH Check function ( HDPC=Y ) is simultaneously performed in
  this situation, HPIC terminates with RC=04 and HPPC detects the
  pointer error.
  
  Because Media Manager call in HPIC refers to High Used RBA that
  is not maintained in catalog until the online application
  program close the database, Media Manager call does not read the
  records in extended space of database data set.
  

Problem conclusion

• FABJDPSN has been modified to not use the HP Input/Output, when
  HPIC Concurrent Image Copy process is performed to the database
  defined by VSAM ESDS except DEDB.
  
  The following modules have been reassembled.
