Error description

  • U3569 and MSGFABB3659E received during getmain from FABBME3.
    Error message is as follows:
FABB3659E - INSUFF. STORAGE FOR: $SPIOVF - INCREASE REGION SIZE

It's concluded that the Tuning Aid is getting storage from below
the 16M line when in turn it needs to get the storage from above
the line (as AMODE=31 vs AMODE=24) to accept larger sized DEDB
    areas.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DEDB Tuning Aid (FABBME3) got U3569 ABE *
    *                      FABB3659E message during getmain.       *

    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
DEDB Tuning Aid (FABBME3) got U3569 ABEND with FABB3659E message
during getmain. FABB3659E message is as follows:
FABB3659E - INSUFF. STORAGE FOR: $SPIOVF - INCREASE REGION SIZE
Even if REGION=0M is specified in the JCL, this abend occurs.

Problem conclusion

  • DEDB Tuning Aid (FABBME3) attempted to obtain X'8AE893' bytes
(9,103,507 bytes) for IOVF CI buffer below 16MB boundary
due to AMODE 24-bit addressing program.
    Because FABBME3 can't obtain the buffer,it issued FABB3659E
    message and got U3659 ABEND.
FABBME3 should be modified from AMODE 24 to AMODE 31 to
obtain the buffer above 16MB boundary.

ME3MAIN0 has been modified to change AMODE of FABBME3 from
    24-bit into 31-bit addressing.
ME3AREA0 and ME3T1XP0 have been modified to obtain all storages
above 16MB boundary for larger storages.
ME3EOAP0 has been modified to change FREEMAIN format from R-type
into RC-type for DOVF and IOVF buffers.
