PK65143: EAREXPANDER UTILITY DOES NOT PROVIDE ERROR MESSEGE AS TO WHY FAILURE OCCURS.

Error description

  • Earexpander utility does not provide an error messege as to why
    a failure has happened.  Currently it will provide a return code
    of -1 for a failure and a 0 for success.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Failures of EARExpander command were    *
    *                      not emitted out.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    If the EARExpander command failed to expand or collapse an EAR
    file, due to some invalid files in the EAR the failure was
    suppressed. The command terminates like a successful run,
    without emitting any message to the user.
    The exceptions on the failure were handled without cascading it
    to the user.
    

Problem conclusion

  • In case of failures the fix will emit the message
    ADMA4013E or ADMA4014E with the cause for the failure.
    Additionally, it provides the option "-verbose" to get the
    complete stack of these exceptions. If the "-verbose" option is
    specified with the command the exception stack of the failure
    will be logged to the error stream.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 6.0.2.31 and 6.1.0.21.  Please refer to the
