Error description

• Generating Apply job Online may result in Abend U4038 when
  PDS files are used as Version Files.
  .
  Additional symptoms: oncode42 abendu4038
  IBM0142S ONCODE=42  The TRANSMIT condition was raised because of
  an uncorrectable error in input ('ONFILE'= TGT2IN).
  From compile unit GOC2CMP at entry point TGT_INPUT at
  statement 2745 at compile unit offset +000187E6 at entry
  offset +0000013E

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2  Object  Compare 720  that  are *
  *                 generating WSLs online and are using Version *
  *                 files  that  are PDS  partitioned  datasets. *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Admin terminates with User ABEND 4038.  *
  *                      OC version  files are  defined as PDSs  *
  *                      and  when  GENERATE  ONLINE  = YES the  *
  *                      Admin session ABENDs with a 4038.       *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *
  ****************************************************************
  A dataset definition DD referring back to the PDS version file
  was not picking up the member name in the PDS.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed.  Running with GENERATE ONLINE =NO or
  do not use PDS version files will circumvent the problem.
