APAR status

Error description

• Excessive storage consumption in extended private ( SP0 / Key8).
  subpool 0 sp0 key 8 . Occurs because storage is not freed.
  The problem is triggered by the restarts of monitored DB2
  subsystems. Evert time a DB2 subsystem is stopped and restarted
  the monitoring PESERVER instance stops and restarts as well.
  
  During each stop cycle some of the previously allocated storage
  is not released and causes the extensive usage of SP0 Key8.
  

Local fix

• Please apply ptf when available.
  
  Recycle the OMPE server task if the monitored DB2 subsystems
  have been cycled frequently.

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
  When a PESERVER Instance is monitoring a DB2 Subsystem and the
  monitored DB2 Subsystem is stopped, the monitoring PESERVER
  Instance stops without releasing all storage previously
  allocated in Extended Private Storage (Subpool 0 / Key 8).
  When the monitored DB2 Subsystem is recycled frequently while
  the PESERVER remains up and running, each restart of the
  monitoring PESERVER Instance will increase the storage
  consumption.
  When storage is exhausted an ABEND 878 occurs.

  Upon termination of a PESERVER Instance the storage previously
  allocated in Extended Private Storage (SP 0 / Key 8) is
  released.
