PK64316: CM ALTER SQLCODEN20181 COLUMN CANNOT BE ADDED TO INDEX

Error description

• The DB2 Administration Tool Change Management function generated
  an ALTER INDEX ADD COLUMN which fails with a SQLCODE -20181 as
  no DROP FOREIGN KEY was issued.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When trying to add a column to an index *
  *                      in a foreign key relationship,  the SQL *
  *                      rror -20181  occurs during  the  change *
  *                      management RUN job.  The reason is that *
  *                      an ALTER INDEX ... ADD COLUMN statement *
  *                      generated for  this  change can not  be *
  *                      used to alter such index.               *

  Object Compare should not have generated ALTER INDEX statement

Problem conclusion

• DROP/CREATE INDEX not ALTER INDEX .. ADD COLUMN will be
  enerated for  an index that matches a foreign key. This
  will follow DB2 rules  which does not allow ALTER INDEX
  ...  ADD COLUMN statement  for an index that enforces a
  primary key, unique key,  or referential constraint, or
  matches a foreign key.
