PK63120: PANEL ADB2C11A RESTRICTS PREFIX FOR DATA SETS INPUT TO 8 CHARACTERS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool, when using CM ( Change Management )
  ANALYZE function, panel adb2c11a restricts input field
  ' Prefix for data sets ' to 8 characters.
  .
  Other, non-CM panels, allow 17-characters for DSN prefix.
  Customer would like adb2c11a to also allow 17-character DSN
  prefix for a more consistent user interface. Also, allowing
  a 17-character DSN prefix will insure that customer's SMS
  routines recognize DSN pattern and properly handle large
  allocations needed for customer's CM jobs.
  

Local fix

• Use 2nd-level DSN qualifier in pds name input field.

  *                      This  is  not  consistent  with  other  *
  *                      Admin panels that allow 17 bytes.       *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *

  The length  of the prefix has been increased from 8 to 17 bytes
  and the suffixes CHANGES and SHRVARS have been shortened to CHG
  an SHV respectively.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed.
