APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In DB2 Administration Tool, CM Analyze changes the PIECESIZE
from 4M to 4K making it an invalid DDL which fails on CM Run.
Subsequent alter of the PIECESIZE results in a successful
run but leaves the index in rebuild pending.
Additional Symptoms: rc8

Local fix

  • Alter PIECESIZE prior to submit and code in extra REBUILDIX job

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: In R720,when user tries to alter an          *
*                 index with piecesize in CMDELTA mode.        *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When changes file results in alter      *
*                      index statement with piecesize,object   *
*                      compare reports correctly about         *
*                      piecesize changes but CM analyse        *
*                      report has incorrect piecesize          *
*                      information and RUN fails with -644.    *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: APPLY the PTF.                               *
****************************************************************
The problem is because of piecesize not being multiplied with
1024 (for Mega bytes) and 1048576 (for Gega bytes). This leads
to wrong piecesize value in delta version records

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is been fixed only in V7.2.
