Error description

  • QMF issues MSGDSQ10341 "The database product ( ) is not
supported by QMF." when running on a DB2 z/OS V7 or higher.

The message is issued in error, but can be ignored until
this fix is applied as it does not stop QMF processing.

NOTE: The primary symptom can occur regardless of
          the DB2 release in use.

Local fix

  • Ignore the message until this fix is applied.

    ****************************************************************
After applying the fix for APAR PK51461, users starting QMF V8.1
or QMF V9.1 in a DB2 for z/OS V7 database can see the following
    in the DSQDEBUG trace dataset:
    ---------- ****** 08/03/10 11.00.48 ******
    USERID: ROBIN
    AUTHORIZATION-ID:
    MESSAGE NUMBER: DSQ10341
    MESSAGE TEXT:
The database product ( ) is not supported by QMF.
     &C1:
     &C2:
     &C3: 7.1.0
    -------------------------------------------------
QMF will start and execute without a problem.
Users can ignore this message and continue. With this
PTF applied, users will not see the invalid message anymore.
Processing in DB2 for z/OS V8 and higher is not affected.

Problem conclusion

  • Prior to this fix, module DSQIDOPT did a null CONNECT in DB2 for
z/OS V8 and higher databases in order to obtain a full database
signature. The database signature received from the CONNECT was
used to determine database prerequisites. This fix will change
DSQIDOPT to do the null CONNECT in DB2 for z/OS V7 and higher
    databases.
