    1.This APAR corrects a problem with batch processing of Connect
    Extensions journals. The IMSPI dialog does not permit Connect
    system definitions to specify an IMS version (VRM). However
    the batch processor always requires VRM in the EXEC PARM. JCL
    must be changed manually to correct the problem.
    2.System Definitions allow for a user-defined IMSPLEX
    specification for each IMS subsystem, which in turn is
    substituted into the batch reporting JCL as follows:
    //EXEC PGM=ALZDBRC,PARM='IMSPLEX=name'
    However if your IMS DBRC environment does not use RECON Loss
    Notification, then the IMSPLEX parameter can cause DBRC to
    incorrectly activate the IMSPLEX, making the RECONs unavailable
    until the CHANGE.RECON NOPLEX command is issued. This can cause
    downtime for online IMS systems.
    What is required is a method of validating the IMSPLEX
    specification (or non-specification) before IMSPI invokes DBRC.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR introduces new function to allow DBRC Log Selection
    to validate the IMSPLEX specification before invoking DBRC.
