**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM IMS High Performance Pointer Checker for * * z/OS Version 2 Release 2 (FMID=HPC2220) * * users who run HD Pointer Checker (HDPC) with * * HISTORY option. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR contains the latest IMS High * * Performance Pointer Checker for z/OS * * (HPPC) fix from Version 2 Release 1 * * (V2R1) that were not yet implemented * * into Version 2 Release 2 (V2R2). * * Refer to the description of the * * following HPPC V2R1 APAR for further * * details: * * PK47744 * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** Forward fit V2R1 APAR into new V2R2 HPPC version. The HIALCBYT field in the HISTORY data set has 4 byte length and a value represents a database data set size with the following encoding scheme - (1) When a database data set size is less than 4,294,967,296 (4G) bytes, the size is stored as an unsigned even binary value. (2) When a size equals or is larger than 4,294,967,296 (4G) bytes, an unsigned odd value: (actual data set size - 4G) + 1 is stored. When a size is larger than 8,589,934,590 (8G-2) bytes, the size cannot be represented by this scheme. This results in HDPC storing an incorrect value to HIALCBYT. The new 8 byte binary field HIALCBYD is added to DBDS record in HISTORY data set. The field resides in the DBDS statistics record 2 which is the same record the HIALCBYT field resides in. HDPC will maintain the both fields but when the total size of the database data set exceeds 8,589,934,590 byte, HDPC will store X'FFFFFFFF' into HIALCBYT in order to minimize the impact on the existing user applications. The new layout of the record can be referred in FABGHIR DSECT macro provided by this APAR.
