Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool ALC function's ALTPART command
    did not produce the ALTER statements in the correct order
    when used to change more than one partitions limit key at a
    time resulting in a SQLCODE -636.

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using the ALTPART command and      *
    *                      changing the limitkey ranges such that  *
    *                      the new definition for a partition      *
    *                      overlaps an existing partition          *
    *                      boundary, the ALTER TABLE ALTER PART    *
    *                      statements were built in the improper   *
    *                      order, resulting in SQLCODE636.         *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY the PTF.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    When changing the limitkey using the ALTER statements, the
    sequence of the ALTER TABLE ALTER PART statements must maintain
    limitkey ranges that do not overlap one another.  The ALTER
    TABLE statements may have to be performed in a specific order.
