APAR status

Error description

  • In DB2 Object Compare Tool when using WSL (Work Statement List)
and tape for drop / create scenario, the LOAD step fails with
message:
  INVALID KEYWORD SPACE FOR TAPE TEMPLATE
.
Failing TEMPLATE is for discard dataset, and will appear
similar to:
TEMPLATE UTLDISC DSN 'IDT.D5DIG0.C070723K.SDISC.T0001' UNIT TAPE
SPACE(1, 50)

Local fix

  • Edit WSL to remove SPACE parameter before running WSL.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: Users of Object Compare  where  TEMPLATE     *
*                 UTLDISC fails for device type=TAPE using     *
*                 WSL.                                         *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When Device Unit=TAPE, EMPLATE UTLDISC  *
*                      receives error message INVALID KEYWORD  *
*                      SPACE FOR the  TAPE TEMPLATE  with WSL  *
*                      option.                                 *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *
****************************************************************
TEMPLATE UTLDISC should not use SPACE parameter when Device
Unit=TAPE.

Problem conclusion

  • Incident is now resolved.
