Error description
Provide symbolic offsets for recovery time designations such as EDT EST etc. in RCVTIME per FITS MR1011076430
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All the users of DRF version 3 and IMS * * version 9 or higher will be affected. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Timestamp recoveries that do not * * specify time zone offsets can result * * in invalid log, image copy, and change * * accumulation data sets being used if a * * daylight savings time change occurs. * * This can result in invalid data in the * * database data sets after recovery. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** When doing timestamp or point in time recoveries across daylight savings time changes, it can occur the situation of too much data being used for recovery or not enough data being used if time zone is not supplied. The recovery time supplied by the user is converted using the current MVS time without regard to recent time changes. By not supplying the time zone to adjust the recovery time, DRF supplies a wrong time stamp to DBRC based on MVS time. This results in the wrong image copy, log, and change accumulation data sets being selected for recovery. Depending on what side of the daylight savings time change the recovery is run, either too much or not enough data is used for recovery.
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
Comments
The user can specify a symbolic or numeric offset of time zone for the recovery time if the recovery is run after a time change but the recovery time is prior to the change, DRF will use the supplied offset to determine time that corresponds to the RECON timestamps. This enhancement is only valid for DRF Batch recoveries. No support is supplied for symbolic offsets with online recoveries. The DRF parser invokes the DBRC API to convert the time from the supplied symbolic to a valid time. IMS version 9 or higher is required to be available to DRF in order to use the symbolic offset function. The modules and macros changed are: FRXBDMG0 and FRXMTC are changed to add FRD6145E to notify the user that the supplied offset is invalid. FRXDAPI0 is added as a new module to use the DBRC API to obtain a valid time zone offset. FRXEPSS0 provides support for the symbolic offset time. FRXGAPI0, FRXGUOW0, and FRXGRDS0 are recompiled. FRXGRPT0 is changed to report the symbolic offset in the output report.
