Error description

  • HPCA is able to create a CA to a PIT. The CA is marked invalid.
The CA will have a user specified PIT suffix. DRF needs to
understand that this CA will only have committed updates for a
PIT recovery. The recovery would only use CA and no logs.

    product.

    MR0608072925
Support a new type of change accumulation generated by the
IBM High Performance Change Accumulation (HPCA) tool. HPCA is
able to create a CA file which only contains committed updates.
The CA is marked invalid. DRF needs to allow this new CA type
as input to recovery when requested by the user. If this CA is
used then no additional logs will be allowed as input.

This APAR adds support for a PIT CA created by the IMS HPCA
utility. It also changes the way time precision works
    with the RCVTIME parameter.

If running with IMS Version 10 Release 1 (HMK1010) then the
    following APAR is required: PK62186
If running with IMS Version 9 Release 1 (HMK9900) then the
    following APAR is required: PK62185
If running with IMS Version 8 Release 1 (HMK8800) then the
    following APAR is required: PK62184

The following DOC change is implemented:

               environment.

Add the following to the Restriction: for OUTPUT(ICR):
The use of a PIT CA created by the IBM IMS High Performance
Change Accumulation Utility is not allowed with the ICR option.

Add the following restriction for OUTPUT(ICRCA):
Restriction: The use of user-image copies, IC2, SAMEDS ICs, or
Flash Copies are not supported with the ICRCA option.
The use of a PIT CA created by the IBM IMS High Performance
Change Accumulation Utility is not allowed with the ICRCA
    option.

Chapter 3. Starting the IMS Database Recovery Facility

RCVTIME is changed to add a new PITCA parameter:

                           |-,TSR-----------------|
    --RCVTIME('timestamp'--| |--)--
                           | |-CHECK---| |
                           |-,PITR---| | |
                           | | |--|
                           |-,PITCA--| |
                                     |-NOCHECK-|
    PITCA
High Performance Change Accumulation (HPCA) is able to
generate a Point-in-Time CA file during a period of time
where databases are still online. This CA file is called a
PIT HPCA and contains only committed updates. This type of
CA is marked invalid in the RECON to prevent useage by other
utilities. Use PITCA to perform a point-in-time recovery
using only a PIT HPCA as input.

The timestamp specified by the RCVTIME parameter identifies
the PIT HPCA to be used as input. The timestamp must be the
RUN time of the CA record as recorded by DBRC. The CA record
must be marked ERR and the CA data set name must have the
      suffix ".HPCAP".

Note: PIT HPCAs are required to be generated with a
             "*.HPCAP" suffix.
No log updates will be selected as input to this
             recovery.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

The following is added to the RCVTIME parameter.

The precision specified for the timestamp controls the precision
used to locate information in the RECON by DBRC. The precision
may be from a tenth of a second to a microsecond, or 1 to 6
digits to the right of the decimal point. This is sometimes
called precision 1 to 6. Precision 6 is known as full precision.
Usually, DBRC uses precision 1 and full precision is available
in IMS V10 R1 if the RECON no longer coexists with earlier IMS
    releases.

DRF uses a different set of rules. The precision specified on
timestamp controls the precision used by DBRC. This is true for
all supported releases of IMS. Optional precision fields in the
timestamp are not padded with zeroes. They are ignored by DBRC.
This can result in multiple records satisfying the criteria
used. Desired timestamps can usually be found by listing a
RECON. If the precision needed cannot be obtained from a listing
of the RECON, it may be necessary to print the RECON using a
utility such as the Access Method Services IDCAMS program.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

A new reason is added to message FRD6022A:

    NO CA FOUND FOR PITCA
A recovery was attempted using a PIT CA, but no PIT CA was
found. A PIT CA must have a RUN time which matches the
RCVTIME timestamp. The PIT CA must be marked ERR, and the
CA data set name must have the suffix ".HPCAP".

    Under System programmer response:

    NO CA FOUND FOR PITCA
Verify that the RCVTIME timestamp matches the RUN time listed
for the CA record in the RECON created by the HPCA PIT. Also,
the CA must be marked ERR and the CA data set name must have
       the suffix ".HPCAP".

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

A new rsn is added to message FRD6124A:

IS ONLY SUPPORTED WITH OUTPUT OPTION PRO | DUP | BOTH
The PITCA keyword was specified with an OUTPUT option other
than PRO, DUP or BOTH. Only PRO, DUP or BOTH are allowed.
