PK49263: ENVIRONMENT SETUP NOT SAVED AFTER USING RECON FAST ACCESS

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Got a problem when Performing RECON maintenance for a
  CS ID directly (DBRC Fast Access). I did the following :
   1 - On the Select Control Suite panel, I type a name for
       a new CS ID (TESTR) and press enter to add my new CS ID
       to the list of CS IDs.
   2 - Issue the R line command to access RECON Maintenance for
       my CS ID. The Conventions Used Across Tasks panel is
       displayed. I then choose z/OS system settings for my CS
       ID.
   3 - I press Enter to display the Propagate Values panel and
       choose to use IMS libraries from a preexisting CS ID, by
       entering Y.
   4 - I press Enter. The RECON is already being used by another
       CS ID. I confirmed specifying Y to accept the RECON and
       press Enter to save my settings. The panel IDLRMAI0 is
       displayed.
   After this has been done, I would expect the next time that
   I enter the line command R for this CS ID, I will immediately
   access the RECON Maintenance selection panel.
   This is not the case. I always restart from step 2 as if the
   TESTR DBRC Fast Access was not initialized and used for the
   first time as specified in the pop up :
  "TESTR DBRC Fast Access has to be initialized when used for
         the first time.
  Enter data as required in displayed panels."

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  DBCS USERS MAY GO DIRECTLY FROM THE MAIN CS ID LIST PANEL,
  IDLP92, TO THE RECON MAINTENANCE FUNCTION BY ENTERING AN 'R'
  TO SELECT DBRC FAST ACCESS. IF FAST ACCESS IS BEING USED FOR
  THE FIRST TIME, IT MUST BE INITIALIZED WITH SETUP INFORMATION
  FOR THE SELECTED CS ID.
  IN THIS PROBLEM, THE NEXT TIME THE USER STARTED DBCS AND USED
  DBRC FAST ACCESS FOR THE SAME CS ID, THE SETUP INFORMATION
  HAD NOT BEEN SAVED, AND HE WAS DIRECTED TO GO THROUGH THE SAME
  INITIALIZATION PANELS.
  

Problem conclusion

• IT WILL NO LONGER BE NECESSARY TO ENTER THE CS ID SETUP DATA
  EVERYTIME THE DBRC FAST ACCESS FUNCTION IS USED.
  DBCS WILL CHECK ONLY FOR FAST ACCESS SETUP DATA AND NOT THE
  SETUP DATA FOR DATABASE COLLECTION TO DETERMINE PROPER
  INITIALIZATION.
