  Part of JES3  interpreter JCL validation involves verification
  that data sets in DD statements with DISP=SHR do in fact exist
  JCL generated for an ALC job includes an UNLOAD step that uses
  template  statements to specify  SYSPUNCH and SYSREC data sets
  with DISP=NEW, rather than using the DD  statements.  The JES3
  interpreter doesn't recognize DISP=NEW  data set specification
  in the UNLOAD  step's  template statements, so that when these
  data sets are then  referenced in the  subsequent CONVERT step
  using DD statements with DISP=SHR, the interpreter fails.
  

Problem conclusion

• Generate DD rather than Template statements in the UNLOAD step
  of an ALC job if running in a JES3 environment.
