Error description

  • DRF dynamic allocates the Change Accum file with DISP=OLD.
This is to prevent any other jobs from attempting to change the

CA in the middle of recovery. We are looking into the possibility
of a SYSIN parameter to indicate that DISP=SHR is to be used
     instead.

    ****************************************************************
While running multiple DRF jobs in parallel it may be possible
for each job to run into a conflict attempting to access the
same image copy, log, or change accumulation data set. This is
because DRF dynamically allocates each of these input data sets
with DISP=OLD. This is to prevent the possibility of a
different job attempting to update or change the contents of
the input data sets while they are being used for recovery.

A new option needs to be provided to give the user the
flexibility to have the input data sets allocated with DISP=SHR.

Problem conclusion

  • AIDS: RIDS/UTIL RIDS/DBS DBS/UTIL
      DEP: NONE
      GEN:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
FRXEDRF, FRXEDRF0, FRXEPSS0, FRXEWSP, FRXRVGB, FRXRWSP,
FRXVWSP, FRXRWCE, and FRXVSTA0 are changed to support a new
DISPSHR option on a new sysin control statement OPTION. This
will be used to override the default DISP=OLD with DISP=SHR
during input data set dynamic allocation.

FRXIDYN0 and FRXYADY0 are changed to recognize if the user
specified the DISPSHR option. If specified then DRF will use
DISP=SHR for dynamic allocation of input data sets.

The following DOC changes are made:

    Facility environment

A new parameter OPTION and subparameter FCTOPPRCP are added:
      OPTION(<subparameters>)
An OPTION statement is used to explicitly specify optional
parameters and overriding default values for your recovery
        environment.

        OPTION subparameter syntax
                               --NO---
                               | |
        >>--OPTION(---DISPSHR(---YES---)-----)--------><
                    | |
                    | --NO--- |
                    | | | |
                    --FCTOPPRCP(---YES---)--

        DISPSHR(YES|NO)
Specifies that the dynamic allocation of IC, log, and CA
will be with DISP=SHR, otherwise the default setting will
          be DISP=OLD.
The default setting of DISP=OLD helps ensure that no
other jobs will attempt to update the contents of your
input data sets in the middle of the recovery process.
The DISP=SHR setting will give users the flexibility of
running multiple jobs in parallel if all that is expected
by these jobs is READ access.
