PK47315: PROBLEMS HANDLING LOWERCASE OBJECT NAMES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool various problems can arise from
  use of lowercase DB2 object names. VIEW name being folded to
  upper case is reported by customer. Additional lower case
  handling issues may also be addressed, and will be described in
  apar closing text.

  Specific case of lower case object names NOT changed
  to upper case during compare will be addressed.

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the  Object Compare Ver 7.2,  when  *
  *                 comparing source DDL which has 'lower-case'  *
  *                 object names(not quoted) and target DDL has  *
  *                 same names with 'uppercase'.                 *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When  the source  DDL  has 'lower-case' *
  *                      object names not quoted) and the target *
  *                      DDL has the same names with 'uppercase, *
  *                      object compare  considers as  different *
  *                      objects which  results in adding object *
  *                      to target.                              *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *

  This problem is due to, lower-case names are not changed to
  uppercase when moving object names in version files.
  Changes are made  to handle below cases  -:
   1) When lower-case names are  specified in quotes , object
      names in version files  are stored in lowercase.
   2) When lower-case names are not quoted , object names are
      folded to uppercase in version files.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem is been fixed in V7.2 only.
