Error description

  • An ABENDU3003 and the following error message can occur when
    the UNIT= PARM of the FILECTL command with FPA doesn't allow an
    eight character esoteric as supported by z/OS. Here is the
    associated message:
    HFPM3003E COMMAND ANALYZE TASK ENDED ABNORMALLY.
    .
    Currently UNIT=3490 must be used to get the UNLOAD to work.

    An ABENDU3003 can occur when an eight character esoteric name
    supported by z/OS is specified as the device name of the UNIT
    keyword with the FILECTL subcommand.
    

Problem conclusion

  • FPA has been changed to accept an eight character esoteric name
    for the UNIT keyword with the FILECTL subcommand.

     UNIT is an optional keyword for the FILECTL subcommand.
    
     Related keyword: DSNAME
     Format:
    
    UNIT=(name ,count )
    
           name
    |      Specify a 1- to 8-character alphanumeric name of the
    |      device type to be used for a data set that is accessed by
    |      dynamic allocation.
    
    count
           Specify the number of devices.
           Valid values are 1 to 59. The default value is 1.
    
    Default: None.
