Error description

• During the migration to Websphere Application Server V6.1,
  nonexistant library paths can encounter a not found exception.
  This exception could be referenced in the WASPostUpgrade.trace

Local fix

Problem summary

• ****************************************************************

  *                 users migrating with symbolic links in the   *
  *                 path to their library files, and these       *
  *                 files are stored under the WebSphere         *
  *                 Application Server directory structure.      *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Migration will fail during the          *
  *                      PostUpgrade step because migration      *
  *                      cannot resolve the path to a library    *
  *                      file that contains a symbolic link.     *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  Migration attempts to migrate files from the old Application
  Server directory structure, including library files. If the
  files are symlinked to another location, or the directory
  tree contains a symlinked directory entry, migration cannot
  resolve this path and fails during PostUpgrade.
  

Problem conclusion

• The migration will not fail during postupgrade, it now logs a
  message saying that the library file was not copied and that
  you should copy that file to the new location by hand.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion
  in fixpack 6.1.0.11.
