Error description

  • After the installation of maintenance, the Omegamon XE for DB2
PE on z/OS Server is suffering from repetitive error messages
msgFPEV1315I, which are filling up the spool and require the
    server to be stopped:
FPEV1315I DBS NUMBER OF PARALLEL SESSIONS EXCEEDS SPECIFIED
                MAXIMUM
On the PE Client, error messages DGOK1446 (server timeout) and
DGO1421 (maximum number of TCP/IP sessions exceeded) are conti-
    nuously issued.
Initial analysis has unveiled two problems but more trace points
have to be added to the code to isolate the root cause:
     1. PE Client suffers from timeouts causing reconnects.
     2. PE Server does not free sessions after they become unused.

    ****************************************************************
Multiple use of the same pair of host and port during the
PE Client configuration results in misconfigured communication
paths between the PE Client and configured collectors. This will
result in timeout conditions, leave unused sessions open and
finally exhaust the maximum available sessions.

Problem conclusion

  • The server will respond to the PE Client request, close the
communication session and provide the freed session for reuse.
