Error description
HPIC FASTIC DUMP process writes no output data if the DB is multi-volume and uses more than 5 volumes. This is because HPIC overrides its control block with extent volser information. Another possible symptom of this overlay: Intermittent ABEND0C4 ( ABENDS0C4 S0C4 0C4 )in the HPIC / DFDSS exit, sometimes, when an image copy of the Primary Index is added to the HPIC step. This doesn't happen if the Primary Index is specified first.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS High Performance Image Copy for z/OS * * Version 4 Release 1 users ( FMID=H1J0410 ) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: HPIC Advanced Copy Services updates its * * control field by wrong address. As the * * result of that, HPIC process terminates * * with unexpected result such as: * * - HPIC does not write any IC record * * into output IC data set, when the input * * DBDS uses more than 5 volumes. * * - HPIC terminates with ABEND S0C4 * * ( ABEND0C4 ), when the input DBDS is * * the primary index. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. * **************************************************************** HPIC Advanced Copy Services updates its control field by wrong address. As the result of that, HPIC process terminates with unexpected result such as: - HPIC does not write any IC record into output IC data set, when the input DBDS uses more than 5 volumes. - HPIC terminates with ABEND S0C4 ( ABEND0C4 ), when the input DBDS is the primary index. The updated field by wrong address is a control block for DFSMSdss API. The DFSMSdss UIM of HPIC refers the invalid data from the field and tries to process, then HPIC gets unexpected result.
Problem conclusion
FABJDSNP has been modified to use a correct register to get volume information of input DBDS. FABJDSSB has been modified to add new pointer field addressing of work area for DFSMSdss. FABJDFCN and FABJRFCN have been modified to set address of work area for DFSMSdss to new pointer field. FABJFCDN and FABJFCCN have been modified to use new pointer field addressing of work area for DFSMSdss. FABJFCCM has been modified to check at the assemble time if the length of work area for FABJFCCM exceeds the boundary of length. The following modules have been reassembled. FABJDFC7, FABJDFC8, FABJDFC9, FABJDFCA, FABJRFC7, FABJRFC8, FABJRFC9, FABJRFCA, FABJFCC7, FABJFCC8, FABJFCC9, FABJFCCA, FABJFCD7, FABJFCD8, FABJFCD9, FABJFCDA, FABJFCAI
