Error description
An IMS application received the following error while executing a BMP writing the output to GSAM TAPE file: +DFS1922I GSAM OPEN OF DD VJARIXGS FAILED, REASON CODE=48 BHB1 IEC205I TAPEDDP,@JARM01B,STEP03,FILESEQ=00001, COMPLETE VOLUME LIST, DSN=NSDNY0PN.VJDBAIM1.D07086.T192722.PARCHIVE,VOLS=H07700, TOTALBLOCKS=6 A JFCB extension address (JFCBEXAD) could not be accessed correctly to find the correct volume when more than 5 volumes are specified. This is because we are running above the line (SWA=ABOVE set for JOBCLASS parameters) and the value returned in JCFCEXAD field is a token (it representsa SWA virtual address) and the token must be converted to a virtual storage pointer which points to the actual data area.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS V10 users who use GSAM/BSAM * * databases with Multivolume data sets. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFS1922I RS=48 in DFSZD110 for an * * existing GSAM/BSAM data set open when * * the data set extends to more than 5 * * volumes if SWA is above the line; or * * the data set extends to more than 20 * * volumes if SWA is below the line. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** An application failed when an existing GSAM/BSAM data set to be opened with DISP=MOD. During open, GSAM/BSAM open/close module DFSZD110 got a token of extension volume list when SWA was above the line instead of the list's address, therefore the application failed. Furthermore, when the dataset extended to the second extension list, the application failed again because the module only checked the first extension list. The application failure led to DFS1922I RS=48 which was below label VOLERR2 of DFSZD110. Additional keywords: RC=48 RC48
Problem conclusion
AIDS: RIDS/DBS RIDS/ACSMTH DBS ACSMTH DEP: NONE GEN: *** END IMS KEYWORDS *** ************ * DFSZD110 * ************ Modified DFSZD110: use SWAREG to get the addresses of all the extension volume lists. Loop through all the lists to do the comparison which finds the current volser's position in the volser lists. The 31 bit mode is set on before processing the extension lists and the 24 bit mode is set back when the process is done.
