APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In DB2 Administration Tool panel adb21t the UR line command is
used to update runstats for a table object. Only when the prior
panel was adb21s the UR line command ends with msgispp178 rc16.

Error messages appear similar to:
.
*   Retcode  : 16
*   Zerrmsg  : ISPP178
*   Zerrsm   : Panel 'ADB21TUR' error
*   Zerrlm   : Conversion or truncation problem found while
*              attempting to store variable 'SPACE'.

Local fix

  • Enter same UR command again, it works ok on the second try.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
* USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Admin Tool who invoke panel     *
*                 ADB21TUR via the UR  command with ADB21S     *
*                 in the catalog navigation path.              *
****************************************************************
* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When  issuing  the UR command  on panel *
*                      ADB21T,  then hitting  ENTER from panel *
*                      ADB21TUR, an ISPF error results (RC=16, *
*                      msgISPP178),only if the ADB21S has been *
*                      invoked along the way.                  *

* RECOMMENDATION: Apply The PTF.                               *

A "conversion  or truncation  problem" error occurs from panel
ADB21TUR when invoked  from the path ADB21S -- T --> ADB21T --
UR --> ADB21TUR. This error does not occur unless ADB21S is in
the panel flow.

Problem conclusion

  • The problems have been fixed.
