APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using HPIO=Y function of HP Image Copy for recovery,
and pre-allocated database BLKSIZE and LRECL is diffrent
from the IMS IC header information of the original DB, HPIC
recovery writes incorrect records into recovered
DB and the DB can not be read. IMS Status AO or other read
errors will be encountered. Also, the new data base can use a
lot more space if the BLKSIZE is bigger than the image copied
    one.

Local fix

  • Allocate the new Data Base with identical LRECL and BLKSIZE as
the original image copied data base.

    ****************************************************************
HPIC Recovery function with HPIO=Y writes invalid records then
the recovered DB is not accessible, when BLKSIZE and LRECL
pre-allocated DB is different from IC header information of
    original DB.
Because HPIC recovery function calculates the number of record
per track with BLKSIZE number of pre-allocated dataset and makes
    incorrect record for writing.

    This APAR also fixes following problems;
    - HPIC V4R1 Image Copy function with HPIO=Y creates incorrect IC
data set, when the dataset's BLKSIZE is different from its
      LRECL.
    - Although using HPIO=X, HPIC V4R1 Recovery function processes
as if specified HPIO=Y. Because HPIC set internal parameter
not for HPIO=X but for HPIO=Y.

Problem conclusion

  • FABJOSAM has been modified to calculate record count per track
with BLKSIZE in IC header at recovery time.

FABJDPSN has been modified to regard as HPIO=N when the
dataset's BLKSIZE is different from its LRECL.

FABJMAIN has been modified to set HPIO=X parameter correctly.

FABJDPS7, FABJDPS8, FABJDPS9 and FABJDPSA have been reassembled.
