Error description
Customer application program issueing DL/I CMD calls which were rejected due to security violation ( status CD statCD CDSTAT ) loops. DFS286 messages fill up CIOP faster than they can be serviced. The DFSPOOL for CIOP in DFSCMD30 is conditional, so an obtain failure here does not bring down IMS, but eventually a spool line CLB dispatch needs a CIOP buffer and makes an unconditional request. The result is a U0732 abend. Customer feels an application should not be able to bring down IMS in this manner.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS V10 users of DL/I CMDS * * rejected with the DFS286 message (security * * authorization violation). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When excessive DFS286 security * * violation messages are generated, * * as a result of DL/I CMD calls, CIOP * * buffers will be exhausted. This * * leads to U0732 ABENDU0732 that * * brings down IMS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** DFS286 messages are generated whenever an application issues DL/I command calls rejected because of security violation (Status code CD). If the application issues this repeatedly (as in a loop), the CIOP buffer will eventually be exhausted and this leads to an ABENDU732. MSGDFS286 STATUSCD U732
Problem conclusion
AIDS: RIDS/DCS RIDS/CMD DCS CMD DEP: NONE GEN: *** END IMS KEYWORDS *** Code changes to module DFSCMD30 and DFSAOSC0 by introducing a field PSTSECVC, the security violation count with a threshold of PSTSECVM (x'FF' or 255). If this is exceeded, the DFS286 message is suppressed, thereby eliminating the possibility of buffer shortage. In conjunction with the above Code changes, we enhanced macro IPST to accomodate the new PSTSECVC field description in IPCS control block formatting. Two modules are recompiled to pick up IPST macro: DFSAPST0 and DFSEF00F.
