Error description

  • When DFSMSdss reads data block after IMS logical EOF (but
not physical EOF) and passes it to HPIC via UIM, HPIC tries to
reblock unexpected data. This can cause an S0C4 in
    FABJFCD7, FABJFCDN8, FANFCDN9, or FABFJCDA or some
    other unexpected result.

    ****************************************************************
This APAR fixes following problems of HPIC V4.

    1. After applying APAR PK37644 to HPIC V4, HPIC abends
S0C1 ( ABEND0C1 ), when both DB record and DBDS record are
not requester in DBRC at Image Copy function. Because HPIC
mishandled RECON data set DCB that close it before fetching
next RECON record. Both DBD record and DBDS record are not
registered in DBRC with DBRC=Y is normal case. HPIC should
not process diagnostic record and should not close DCB
between fetching DBDS record and DB record.

    2. HPIC gets S0C4 in FABJFCD7, FABJFCD8, FABJFCD9, or FABJFCDA
or creates IC data set which includes unused CI image that
cause of pointer error for HPPC when FASTIC=(,DUMP).
Because DFSMSdss passes logical record via UIM that beyonds
EOF of DBDS. HPIC UIM exit handles EOF CI in a logical
record, but has not been expected other logical block is
scheduled by DFSMSdss after EOF, then tried to process
unnecessary data as normal CI data then ABEND S0C4 or
unexpected result. HPIC should ignore logical records in
UIM after all valid CI is processed.

Problem conclusion

  • FABJFCDN has been modified to detect the EOF of input data set
    with a new internal flag.

FABJDSSB has been modified to add new internal flag which
indicates the EOF of input data set.

FABUARCN has been modified not to close DCB of RECON data set
when both DB and DBDS record are not registered.

FABJMAIN and FABJRCHK have been modified to distinguish whether
HPIC should process diagnostic record or not with new internal
    flag.

FABURRPD has been modified to add new internal flag which
indicates whether HPIC should process diagnostic record or not.

The following modules have been reassembled.
     FABJARC0 FABJDFC7 FABJDFC8 FABJDFC9 FABJDFCA FABJFCAI FABJFCC7
