  The free space elements in SDEP blocks must have the
  high-order bit (X'8000') set to identify each FSE.  The
  logic to reset that bit does not properly remove the bit
  before using the FSE offset to locate the next-in-chain.
  
  An unrelated secondary failure results from following the
  SDEP segment pointers which are 8-bytes rather than the
  normal 4-bytes.  For each segment after the first segment
  of the block, the pointer value is incorrectly loaded.
  

Problem conclusion

• Free Space chain is now properly followed to construct the FSE
  table.  SDEP pointers are now correctly recognized to be
  8-byte entries.
