PK35826: ADMIN AL / RDEF FAILS IN LOAD WITH MESSAGE DATASET NOT FOUND

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool, using AL / RDEF to move a
  tablespace from one database to another can fail in the LOAD
  step because a dataset is not found.
  .
  UNLOAD uses the old database name, and LOAD uses the new
  database name in the CNTL and UNLD dataset names. Generated jobs
  show skeleton ADB2USU building the UNLOAD jobstep, and skeleton
  ADB21SAL building the LOAD jobstep.
  .
  For example, moving from dbname RICHDB2 to RICHDB3 produces the
  following DDs for the UNLOAD jobstep:
  .
  //SYSPUNCH  DD DSN=VNDO327.XB.PM01201D.CNTL.RICHDB2.RICHTS1.PT,
  ...
  //SYSREC    DD DSN=VNDO327.XB.PM01201D.UNLD.RICHDB2.RICHTS1.PT,

  And the following DD's for the LOAD jobstep:

Local fix

• Customer determined that using pf3 to back out of jcl edit
  session to return to panel adb21saj and then, without
  changing anything, just hit ENTER to rebuild the jcl. This
  action will correct the jcl. The new jcl uses the old dbname
  to build identical dataset names in both jobsteps.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When renaming a Tablespace's Database   *
  *                      name, the load step has invalid DSN's   *
  *                      for SYSREC and SYSIN.                   *

  * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY the PTF.                               *
  ****************************************************************
  When changing a Tablespace's Database Name in Panel ADB21SAR.
  The Generated load Step created from Panel ADB21SAJ is invalid,
  The DD statements for SYSREC and SYSIN have the new Database
  name instead of the Old Database names used in the previous
  unload step.
  

Problem conclusion

• Code has been fixed.
