PK35445: AL / RDEF USING ONLY IC UTILITY PRODUCES DSN THAT EXCEEDS 44 CHARACTERS

Error description

• In DB2 Administration Tool, using AL / RDEF and requesting only
  the IC Image Copy utility an extra ' P ' is appended to the
  IC DSN. In appending the extra character, the dataset name
  exceeds the 44 character DSN limit, resulting in a JCL error.

  Specifying another utility, REORG or CHECK DATA , in addition to
  the IC utility produces correct DSN with no ' P ' appended.

  Customer's adb2ucus modifications show:

  Resulting in the following DSN when only IC utility is chosen:

    UNIT SYSDA;

  Choosing another utility, in addition to IC, produces the
  following:
    TEMPLATE SYSCOPY
    DSN 'IDT.D4DT10.IC.DBD4MAP1.TSD4CPY1.D06305.T1559'
    UNIT SYSDA;

Local fix

• Choose REORG or CHECK DATA utility along with IC utility for
  AL / RDEF operations until a fix is available.

  Note: not all customers will be affected by this DSN problem.
  Customer's adb2ucus modifications built a DSN that was very
  close to the 44-character limit. As distributed, default DSN
  name from un-modified adb2ucus skeleton does not generate a
  name that exceeds 44-characters. However, the DSN generated is
  inconsistent, depending on utility choices noted above.

  *                      options  are selected  in the 'Optional *
  *                      jobs after redefinition'  area of Panel *
  *                      ADB21SAJ. A '.P' is appended to the DSN *
  *                      on the SYSCOPY DD Statement.  If  CHECK *
  *                      DATA  or  RUNSTATS  are also  requested *
  *                      with Image Copy, then no '.P' is append *
  *                      to the DSN on the SYSCOPY DD Statement. *
  *                      .* Note: another problem fixed          *
  *                      When  returning  from  Panel ADB2UPA to *
  *                      Panel ADB21SAJ  the Worklist name field *
  *                      is blanked out.  This happens for first *
  *                      time users  who  haven't  established a *
  *                      prior Worklist Name.                    *
