Error description

  • The DB2 Administration Tool ALC command WSL contained a LIKE
    clause for an allocation for a CNC dataset which caused a
    message:
    DSNU1015I DSNUGDYN - ERROR ALLOCATING DATA SET
    IKJ56221I DATA SET aaa NOT ALLOCATED, VOLUME NOT AVAILABLE+
    IKJ56221I VOLUME IS ALLOCATED TO ANOTHER JOB OR USER, TRY LATER
    as the CNT dataset being referenced is on removal media
    i.e. CART / TAPE / 3480 / 3490 devices.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of DB2 Admin Tool attempting to alter *
    *                 a table (1) using a WSL, AND (2) using DB2   *
    *                 rather than HPU for Unload/Load, AND (3)     *
    * using tape for the unloaded table data. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If an attempt is made to alter a table *
    * by running a WSL and DB2 is specified *
    * as the unload method, two TEMPLATE *
    * statements are generated in the WSL for *
    * each ULD dataset. If the dataset is *
    * on disk this poses no problem; however *
    * if the dataset is on a tape volume, *
    * the second TEMPLATE statement results *
    *                      in an allocation failure ("IKJ56221I    *
    * VOLUME IS ALLOCATED TO ANOTHER JOB *
    *                      OR USER").                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY the PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    On load, ADBTEP2 should ignore a template statement when the
    unload/load method is DB2 if that statement refers to a data set
    referenced in a template statement in the UTILFROM data set.

Problem conclusion

  • Code modified in ADBTEP2 to suppress the template statements in
    the load step if they refer to a data set referenced in a
    template statement in the UTILFROM data set.
