Error description

  • Dynamic Allocation failure in RAUX when either DRFHILEV= or
DRFUNIT= causes alloation of temporary datasets on non-SMS
    volume

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users with IMS Database Recovery Facility *
    *                 Version 3 Release 1 installed are affected.  *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: RACF Authorization fails during dynamic *
    * allocation of temporary DRFHLQ (from *
    * REPORT control statement) prefixed *
    * datasets. The REPORT control statement *
    * allows for UNIT (DRFUNIT), but does not *
    * allow for VOLSER (new parm DRFVOLSR) *
    * for temporary dataset dynamic *
    * allocation. UNIT is sufficient for some *
    * installations but some installations *
    * require VOLSER for dynamic allocation. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF *
    ****************************************************************
To create a single node high level qualifier for one specific
product is inconvenient for many customers. It is more
convenient to have a second node. Prior to this APAR DRF in some
cases used only a single node (DRFHLQ). Also Dynamic allocation
fails due to inability for users to specify VOLSER for
    temporary datasets.

Problem conclusion

  • AIDS: RIDS/UTIL RIDS/DBS DBS/UTIL
      DEP: NONE
      GEN:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***
DRF now allocates temporary datasets using &DRFHLQ.FRX* so that
a two level qualifier can be RACF authorized for DRF. It also
allows on the REPORT control statement the DRFVOLSR parameter
which allows customers to indicate the VOLSER used for dynamic
    allocation.

    DOCUMENTATION CHANGE FOR APAR PK32051
THIS MAINTENANCE IS BEING HELD SO YOU WILL BE
AWARE OF DOCUMENTATION CHANGE TO MANUAL(S):
    SC18940700
    -
THE FOLLOWING TEXT DESCRIBES THE DOC CHANGE:
    -
A change has been made in IBM IMS Database Recovery Facility
for z/OS, User's Guide and Reference, Version 3 Release 1,
at page 34, chapter 3: Defining and tailoring the IMS Database
    Recovery Facility environment.

    REPORT(RPTTYPE=SEP | APP,DRFUNIT=genericunit,
    DRFHLQ=high-level-qualifier, DRFVOLSR=Vol-Ser-number)

DRFVOLSR = Specifies a 6-character Volume Serial Number that is
taken from the REPORT SYSIN DD statement and passed from the
primary address space to subspaces. Use DRFVOLSR to specify a
particular Volume Serial Number on which to dynamically
allocate and catalog any required data sets.

DRFVOLSR is optional. If it is not specified then the temorary
data sets will be written to local volumes. DRFVOLSR is
required when you have insufficient local volumes or the
    volumes are not SMS-managed.
