Error description
An application .net application is sending a request to our OMPE v310 server and since it is finding our PORT instead of the db2 PORT we experience contention and messages: 09.41.44 STC07405 FPEV1320S DBD4 1 TCP/IP SESSION MANAGER RECEIVED INVALID REQUEST) The application continues to attempt a connect to us hence we start to experience the FPEV0158W DBD4 09:42:40.03 DATA SERVER DETECTED HIGH CPU USAGE (43%) OF TASK DGOVTCPL message. .

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: OMEGAMON XE for DB2 PE/DB2PM V310 * * users of component: * * - OMEGAMON Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The service level of the * * OMEGAMON Server is: * * FPEV0000I DATA SERVER INITIALIZATION * * FPEV0114I PTF BUILD IS 06.258 * * ------------------- * * When another application than the PE * * Client continuously tries to connect * * to the Data Server instance TCP/IP * * port the connection is rejected and * * the message FPEV1320S is issued. When * * the connect requests are fired rather * * frequently the available ports might * * become exhausted and the handling of * * further incoming requests will cause * * HIGH CPU consumption. When the HIGH * * CPU persists the WATCHDOG starts * * internal traces and finally issues * * an SDUMP request and terminate the * * TCP/IP subtask. During the phase of * * concurrent high CPU condition, tracing * * and storing the dump data the Data * * Server might be less responsive to * * stop requests. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
When the Data Server TCP/IP subtask detects invalid requests the message FPEV1320S is issued. The message is extended to contain the IP address and port of the connecting application which erroneously uses the Data Server port. The port handling the invalid request is closed immediately thereafter. If this happens frequently this can result in unnecessary CPU requests should be located and modified quickly. --------------- SYSMOD TITLE: Data Server TCP/IP subtask invalid requests KEYWORDS: Server TCP/IP invalid request
