  • An application
    .net application is sending a request to our OMPE v310 server
    and since it is finding our PORT instead of the db2 PORT we
    experience contention and messages:

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The service level of the                *
    *                      OMEGAMON Server is:                     *
    *                      FPEV0000I  DATA SERVER INITIALIZATION   *
    *                      FPEV0114I  PTF BUILD IS 06.258          *
    *                      -------------------                     *
    *                      When another application than the PE    *
    *                      Client continuously tries to connect    *
    *                      to the Data Server instance TCP/IP      *
    *                      port the connection is rejected and     *
    *                      the message FPEV1320S is issued. When   *
    *                      the connect requests are fired rather   *
    *                      frequently the available ports might    *
    *                      become exhausted and the handling of    *
    *                      further incoming requests will cause    *
    *                      HIGH CPU consumption. When the HIGH     *
    *                      CPU persists the WATCHDOG starts        *
    *                      internal traces and finally issues      *
    *                      an SDUMP request and terminate the      *
    *                      TCP/IP subtask. During the phase of     *
    *                      concurrent high CPU condition, tracing  *
    *                      and storing the dump data the Data      *
    *                      Server might be less responsive to      *
    *                      stop requests.                          *

Problem conclusion

  • When the Data Server TCP/IP subtask detects invalid requests
    the message FPEV1320S is issued. The message is extended to
    contain the IP address and port of the connecting application
    which erroneously uses the Data Server port. The port handling
    the invalid request is closed immediately thereafter.
    If this happens frequently this can result in unnecessary CPU
    requests should be located and modified quickly.
