APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using the IPIDBRC Log Selection facility program it has been
found that if RECON MDA Members are contained both in IMS Reslib
pointed to by RESLIB execution parameter and in MDA Library
pointed to by MDA execution parameter, and if the first ones are
wrong (i.e. because you are using a "generic" RESLIB generated
some time ago for another environment), the following messages
    appear:
DSP0014I DYNAMIC ALLOCATION FAILED FOR RECON1
    DSP0014I RETURN CODE=04 REASON CODE=1708
DSP0014I DYNAMIC ALLOCATION FAILED FOR RECON2
    DSP0014I RETURN CODE=04 REASON CODE=1708

It is expected that IMSPA use for Dynamic Allocation, only the
specific library pointed to by the MDA execution parameter.

Local fix

  • Remove the errant RECONx members from the IMS RESLIB.

Problem conclusion

  • Log selection honours MDA parameter if both MDA and
    and RESLIB specified.
