Error description
Image Copy for a DB was taken twice due to mistake. First time, it had been taken with volser=IC0001.(IC cataloged.) Then, it was noticed that the volser was wrong, It should have been volser=IC0000. The RECON d/s,was restored and the IC was taken again(IC not cataloged, because of same d/s name ) We did not delete the old IC catalog for the first DB, then the old catalog

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IMS users with IMS Database Recovery * * Facility Version 2 Release 1 installed. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Use of the CATDS environmental control * * statement in DRF may result in hang * * symptoms during dynamic allocation of * * input data sets. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** The IMS Database Recovery Facility for z/OS User's Guide erroneously documents the CATDS environmental control statement as an option the user can utilize to override the DBRC CATDS flag. The DRF CATDS was not intended to be a general use override for DRF to determine if the attributes of input data sets (Image Copies, Logs, CAs) should be used from the RECON or from the Catalog.
Problem conclusion
AIDS: RIDS/UTIL RIDS/DBS DBS/UTIL DEP: NONE GEN: *** END IMS KEYWORDS *** The DRF User's Guide is changed to remove the CATDS environmental control statement. It is currently documented and invoked by users with the intention of it being a useable override to the DBRC CATDS setting or to the method used by DRF in locating data set attributes for dynamic allocation. DRF is designed to always reference the RECON for data set attributes and search the CATALOG for new information. The design was introduced in an IMS V8 APAR PQ60701/UQ66887. The CATDS control statement became obsolete after subsequent code changes were made in PK12681/UK10553. Code is not changed in this APAR to remove CATDS for compatibility. The following DOC changes are required: -- IMS Database Recovery Facility for z/OS User's Guide and Reference Version 2 Release 1 (SC18-7016-03) and... IMS Database Recovery Facility for z/OS User's Guide and Reference Version 3 Release 1 (SC18-9407-00) In... Chapter 3. Defining and Tailoring the IMS Database Recovery Environment Remove the "CATDS(Y|N|D)" description.
