APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If DSQCCI detects a non-zero value in the TCBCAUF field of the
    TCB control block, it assumes CICS is present. However, the
    Fault Analyzer product also uses TCBCAUF. Merely checking
    for a non-zero is insufficient for identifying a CICS TCB.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All QMF for TSO and CICS V810 users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ABENDS0C1 occurs in DSQCCI when *
    *                      a branch to a nonexistent CICS stub     *
    *                      is attempted.                           *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Historically, QMF examined the contents of the TCBCAUF field
    in the TCB under which it is running to determine whether
    CICS is active. Other products, such as Fault Analyzer, have
    begun using TCBCAUF for their own purposes, so the presence of
    a nonzero value in TCBCAUF no longer necessarily indicates
    CICS is active.
    QMF assumed CICS's presence from the nonzero value in TCBCAUF
    and tried to branch to a nonexistent CICS stub, thus incurring
    the abend.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been changed in DSQQCIC to determine whether the CICS
    eyecatcher "AFCX" is present at the address represented in
    TCBCAUF.
