Error description

  • JNDI cache for Java URL name spaces associated with applications
    are not removed when the associated application is stopped.
    This results in a memory leak which accumulates as applications
    are stopped and restarted.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Java URL name space caches created to improve performance are
    associated with the context class loader of the corresponding
    application. Lookups issued in the container thread context to
    populate the java URL name space were causing a cache to be
    created for that URL name space. The context class loader was
    not that of the application, and the cache object was not
    removed when the application was stopped.

Problem conclusion

  • To fix the problem, creation of a java URL name space cache
    is now deferred until a cacheable object is looked up. Only an
    application looks up cacheable objects - the container is only
    looking up naming contexts, which are not cached.
