Error description

  • LocalActivityContext.marshalActivityIdentity and
    demarshalActivityIdentity make use of maxSendSize and
    maxReceiveSize specified by the propertyGroupinfo to impose a
    limit on the incoming/outbound serialized context.
    However, the current check implemented makes use of a
    temporary output stream to get a byte array and
    throws the serialized content away. The code needs to be
    optimized to either postpone the check till the final
    serialized content is available or reuse the byte array
    created in the check in the final content.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All WebSphere Application Server version *
    *                 6.0.2 users of Activity Service.             *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The policing of maximum send and *
    * receive size is not optimized. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a propertyGroupinfo is defined such that a limit is
    imposed on the incoming/outgoing serialized context, the
    current check makes use of a temporary output stream to get a
    byte array and throws the serialized content away, only for
    the serializtion to be done again. This is inefficient, and
    can cause a performance overhead on a system handling large
    numbers of activity service contexts.
